Gastroenteritis Max Panel

Detail about this product

Gastroenteritis Max Panel

What is it?
The Gastroenteritis Max Panel is an advanced multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay engineered to detect and differentiate a comprehensive range of bacterial, viral, and protozoan pathogens implicated in gastroenteritis. This panel leverages cutting-edge molecular diagnostics to identify multiple pathogens simultaneously, including those that are challenging to isolate using traditional culture methods. Its design enables the precise detection of co-infections and rare pathogens, providing critical diagnostic insights in high-complexity gastrointestinal cases. Furthermore, the Gastroenteritis Max Panel includes resistance gene profiling, facilitating evidence-based antimicrobial stewardship and mitigating risks associated with delayed or inappropriate treatment.

Target and Specimen Type

  • Target Pathogens: Detects key bacterial pathogens such as Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Campylobacter spp., and Escherichia coli (including STEC); viral agents like Norovirus, Rotavirus, and Adenovirus; and protozoan parasites such as Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium spp. The panel also identifies resistance markers, including those for extended-spectrum β-lactamases (blaCTX-M) and fluoroquinolone resistance (gyrA mutations).
  • Specimen Types: Validated for a range of gastrointestinal specimens, including stool samples and rectal swabs, ensuring compatibility with diverse diagnostic workflows in clinical and public health settings.
